L'Homme et l'arbre / Black Forest in Ammerschwihr
AMMERSCHWIHR WALK
Seven days grey
across the street
across the street
a deep black forest
rectangular
from tiny tiles
one could see
from tiny tiles
one could see
behind me
misty hills mostly
a rusty-brown
from vineyards in winter
from vineyards in winter
one could hear
right beside me
a man pruning
electric motor strapped on
like a backpack
my "bonjour" ignored
electric motor strapped on
like a backpack
my "bonjour" ignored
but on my way back
the pruning man paused
for a moment
concenting to a chat
for a moment
concenting to a chat
then again
the black forest
with its strip of sky
so very very blue
so very very blue
a stork on a rooftop
silent and tall
silent and tall
and a tower with a face
gazing ahead
gazing ahead
BALADE À AMMERSCHWIHR
Sept jours gris
Sept jours gris
à travers la rue
une forêt noire
faite de carreaux minuscules
rectangulaires
rectangulaires
on pouvait voir
derrière moi
collines brumeuses surtout
des vignes brunes
humides hivers
on pourrait entendre
à mon coté
un sécateur motorisé
un sécateur motorisé
la boîte attachée
aux épaules en arrière
mon bonjour ignoré
uniquement à mon retour
l'homme qui coupe s'arrête
s'accorde un "chat"
s'accorde un "chat"
puis à nouveau
la forêt noire
avec son bande de ciel
plus bleu que bleu
plus bleu que bleu
une cigogne sur un toit
en hauteur silencieuse
en hauteur silencieuse
une tour avec ses yeux
sa bouche
le visage regardant
fixement droit devant
sa bouche
le visage regardant
fixement droit devant

Question of Time and Place - Oiseau singulier
dans l'espace de la possibilité
en dehors d'elle elle voit
les saisons des feuilles
cuivrées dorées séchées
l'une après l'autre condamnée
à tomber
dans sa maison elle écoute
les bruits sourds qui
confirment ses sentiments
lourde annonce
d'une dernière saison
une brume descend pour
accentuer cette encloisonnement
naissance jeunesse vie mûre
la descente
................
sculpture changeante
accompagnent son inertie
un moment
et doucement ça réveille
son limpide sentiment
elle attend que l'impossible se présente

Question of time and place - Bois
pour la mémoire de hier
for yesterday's memories
Quelque part ça me semble faut... On vivra mieux ?
Last night in bed I wondered where all the years had gone, they had just vanished. Yes, doesn't the moment just evaporate as soon as it arrives? Is that why we have created seconds, minutes, weeks, months, years, and centuries... so that we will be able to realize that time is moving on, that it is constantly running away from us? Somehow this doesn't seem right..., as we can not hold on to time nor space. How would life be if the concept of time did not exist? Would we live in a better way? And better, what does that mean ...?
We can not hold on to life either... but we seem to be trying through taking photographs, writing stories, sharing memories, making movies, creating visuals and words on a screen in our head and on the net as with facebook, blogs, youtube. If time would not be conceptualized, would we know emotions like desire, longing, regret, rejoicing, fear, hope, jealousy, or any other emotions projected on the past or into the future? Are our concepts, that fragment time and separate one moment from the other, preventing us from being aware, that we are connected to everything and everyone? And our emotions, our individual experiences, do they divide us and do they separate us from the simple reality of a moment?
Forced separation is a violation, and it starts with our birth. So can one's birthday celebration, which marks one year from the other, be a compensation for the first violation experienced in our life? Does this provide us with a partial or feeble answer to why we want to continue dividing up time (and space, but there might be an other story to this...), as an attempt to heal this wound, hoping (or only wishing) that we can be in control?
These ideas are nothing special, and... everything is special when I contemplate!
My thoughts on this subject are inexhaustible and non-original, but here they are. So now I stop here, at the birthday party (for no one in particular), and all other parties we invent to become conscious about the life that we live...

Imagining a Different World / Imaginer un monde différent (1)
RETURNING FROM PONT BORN
I cannot help but
turning the world
upside down,
the way I like to see things
LE CHEMIN DU RETOUR DE PONT BORN
Je ne peux m'empêcher
de tourner le monde
à l'envers,
comme j'aime à le voir
LE CHEMIN DU RETOUR DE PONT BORN
Je ne peux m'empêcher
de tourner le monde
à l'envers,

Inventing Peace - a dialogue on perception between Wim Wenders and Mary Zournazi
Shortly after I posted this photograph accompanied by a few words, I had a look at the blog of photographer Harvey Benge. In his last post he talked about the book Inventing Peace - a dialogue on perception between Wim Wenders and Mary Zournazi. Wenders and Zournazi's idea of imagining a world that is different, but one that is surrounding us already, struck me, as this is what I so often seem to do, in fact, almost continuously.
Here are some lines about the book from the publisher : "Inventing Peace revolves around the question of how we look at the world, but do not see it when there is so much war, injustice, suffering and violence. What are the ethical and moral consequences of looking, but not seeing, and, most of all, what has become of the notion of peace in all this? In the form of a written dialogue, Wim Wenders and Mary Zournazi consider this question as one of the fundamental issues of our times as well as the need to reinvent a visual and moral language for peace. Inspired by various cinematic, philosophical, literary and artistic examples, Wenders and Zournazi reflect on the need for a change of perception in the everyday as well as in the creation of images. In its unique style and method, Inventing Peace demonstrates an approach to peace through sacred, ethical and spiritual means, to provide an alternative to the inhumanity of war and violence. Their book might help to make peace visible and tangible in new and unforeseen ways."
It seems that this book is a "must read"...

Das Bergische Land / Rosegarden
... she would carve on the tree Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose until it went all the way around. (Gertrude Stein : The World is Round) -
I'm shooting my picture standing in the middle of the road
and Mutti's Schneller Teller talks to me about culture
and living in this land

Aging / L'abreuvoir
it is showing it's age
lichen clutching to it's surface
it is stoic, sturdy and motionless moving through time
it has known drought, received water drop by drop
or a downpour from the sky
it served hikers, farmers or eager tongues of cattle
just now it is the subject of my picture
like a ship in a landscape
that is slowly sliding to a still unknown destiny
